Growing Pains by MatthewHuntley
Growing Pains
This is a short, very quickly made comic for my Communicative Drawing 2 class. It had to have at least six panels telling a sequential narrative. When I was young I watched a lot of classic B science fiction (Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, Village of the Giants, etc) and shows like Power Rangers (which of course always had a giant monster battle at the end of every episode!), so this is a callback to that.

Typically I work in a really illusionistic and realistic style, but the time frame and nature of the assignment called for something less complex, so I went with a more traditional comic book art style.

For those curious, I have a huge backlog of art to be posted that's just waiting to be photographed, so hopefully this page of mine should be getting more and more active in the nearish future. School has really neutered my online presence, albeit temporarily.

Comment and enjoy!

EDIT: I wasn't happy with the original coloring job (had to rush it for school), so I went back in and gave it a nicer finish.

It'd been awhile since I updated, and to be honest, I've gotten kind of sick of seeing the other journal. Thus, this entry.

At present I'm preparing for my next semester at art school, catching up on commissions, and composing music with my progressive instrumental metal band, Melödica (links at bottom). Also had my first group show at the Indianapolis Central Library, which was pretty cool!

As always, feel free to note me if you're interested in having some artwork commissioned. I'm willing to create just about anything you can imagine, and prices are negotiable; I try to price larger illustrations on a case by case basis according to the time it takes to bring the piece into reality. On that same note, if you feel the urge to contact me for any other reason, feel free. I try to get on here and clear out the inbox at least once a day.

Alrighty then! I'll be around. As for now, time to sleep!
